The drum of the alphabet
Say d and you are beating a drum: tongue taps the ridge behind the teeth and releases in one dry pop. The capital D is a straight spine with one big round belly, and the lowercase is the same belly on a taller spine — color both and the family resemblance does the teaching. Belly on the left is what makes a d a d; that is the side the crayon should travel most carefully.
D is the mirror twin of b, and this page is built to be printed alongside the letter B page. Same bellies, opposite sides. Children who color the pair in one sitting — b page, then d page, out loud, "b has its belly on the right, d on the left" — collect the reversal fix weeks earlier than children who meet the letters separately in workbooks.

Tap the table like a drum every time you say a d-word — dog, drum, Dad. D is a percussive sound and the tapping pairs it with a beat, which anchors it faster than repetition alone.

What D words are on the page?
Dog, duck and door — all concrete nouns a three-year-old can draw from memory. The draw box is the fourth slot: dinosaurs dominate in this house, and the box has room for a whole herd.
Does coloring really help with b and d reversals?
It helps the way tracing does: the hand learns the shape's orientation through repetition of the outline. Color the b page and this one in the same week and say the belly sides out loud — motor memory plus verbal rule beats either alone.
What age is this letter D coloring page for?
Three to six. Toddlers color the big shapes and the words; kindergartners add the trace row and usually want to spell their own d-words (dog names are extremely common) in the draw box.
